Child Sole Custody Attorney Cincinnati

Child Custody Disputes and Collaborative Law

Many parents approach their child custody dispute with conflicting feelings and conflicting goals—"I know what I want, and I think I know how to obtain it, but will my goal fully serve my child's best interests?"

Often, successful aligning of parents' goals is contingent upon getting parents to agree on 1) working to serve the child's best interests, and 2) answering the question "what arrangement will best for my child?"

I am Maury White, Attorney at Law and I have passionately worked to help families heal and move forward through the divorce process since 1978. I have never wavered in my focus on families and family law. However, in 2000, I decided to make a change in how I practice.

In that year, I transitioned my practice to using the Collaborative Law process. Unlike the adversarial nature of courtroom litigation, the Collaborative Law process allows families to work through difficult emotions, and to focus upon on common problems and find solutions that will work for both parents as well as children.

How Collaborative Law Works to Resolve Child Custody Disagreements

Through the Collaborative Process parents will work together to ask and answer questions like "Who is involved with our child's school and activities?" Who should make decisions about which dentist, church or synagogue the child will use or attend?" And "What will best serve our child's needs, a shared custody or sole custody arrangement?" And the past does not necessarily need to dictate the future!

As an experienced and accomplished family law attorney and Collaborative Law practitioner, I am one of only 106 Certified Family Law Specialists in Ohio, have won the American Jurisprudence Award in Family Law, have earned an AV* rating through Martindale Hubbell's peer review rating system (the highest ranking available for legal abilities and ethical standards) and have been a designated as an Ohio Super Lawyer since 2004.
