Child Support Guidelines Lawyer Ohio

Child Support Disputes and Collaborative Law

Pursue Solutions Through YOUR Paradigm, Not Your Lawyer's

There are numerous ways to pursue a resolution to a child support dispute. Litigation is the most common route, but almost invariably leads to acrimony, fractured relationships, unhappiness with the outcome and an expensive court battle that will be unpleasant for all participants regardless of the result.

Collaborative Law allows for a different way and a better outcome. Collaborative Law allows for consideration of the child support guidelines and formulas regarding income, employment, standards of living and the children's needs, but it also:

  • Encourages parents to work together regarding their children's needs
  • Allows parents and families to decide what will work best for them as they define "best", not as the courts and detached judges define it
  • Effectively addresses feelings of fear, distrust and anger, which can lead to entrenched "positions" and can divert from relevant problem solving
  • Allows for product "buy in" from each participant, allowing for problem solving which can lead to a result that works for everyone

I Can Work to Lead Your Family to a Hopeful and Happy Future

I am Maury White, Attorney at Law and I believe in the Collaborative Law Process so wholeheartedly that I use it almost exclusively to resolve child support disputes and all other family law disputes (in addition to Mediation). In addition to my over 10 years as a Collaborative Law attorney, I:

  • Am one of only 106 attorneys in Ohio who are designated by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Certified Family Relations Law Specialist and am the only Certified Specialist with an office in the Butler/Warren county area
  • Have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance which helps enable me to resolve difficult-to-understand legal challenges which arise in many child support disputes

I work with parents to create budgets which isolate the cost of raising children, then I look at the particulars of each families' arrangement. Who goes to PTA meetings? Who makes school lunches? What are the tax consequences of the various options available to each family?

Finally, after the family has identified the child support arrangement that will work best for them, I help each client answer "What would happen if I went to court?" Then, I draft an agreement that fully meets the family's needs and which can be presented with confidence to the family law court.
